How deep is the ocean? The deepest known point on the Earth is at the bottom of the Mariana Trench, a depression in the floor of the western Pacific Ocean, southeast of Japan. This trench reaches a depth of 11035 meters. IfMount Everest were placed at the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the summit would still be nearly 2,100 meters below sea level.

海洋有多深呢？地球上最深的地方就是西太平洋海底的马里亚纳海沟，在日本的东南面。它深达11035米，如果把珠穆朗玛峰放在海沟里，山峰距海平面还差2100米呢。

Does the deep-sea zone have any plant or fish? The deep sea is too deep for light to penetrate while plants need light to make their food, so plants cannot live in this ocean zone. As for fish, it is still difficult to live in deep sea as oxygen and food are hardly to be found, not mentioning the enormous pressure. Due to this special condition, creatures that live in the deep layer of the ocean have evolved in a variety of ways to adapt to it. Creatures like Pompeii worm, vampire squid, and anglerfish, etc. are attracting more and more people to explore the mysterious and vast deep ocean.

那么深海海域还有植物或者鱼类吗？因为这里太深了，光透不进去，而植物又需要光来合成养料，因此植物在这里很难生存。而鱼类要想生存同样很困难，因为氧气和食物都极少，更不要说这里极大的水压了。由于有这种特殊的环境，生活在这片水域里的生物也演化出了各种各样的方式来生存。象庞贝虫，吸血乌贼和琵琶鱼这样的深海生物都正在吸引越来越多的人到这片广袤而又神秘的地方探险。
